Disappointed  
Great looking but the water does NOT get hot enough. Max temp is about 160 degrees and does not brew a decent cup for my money. I find it clumsy to use hate the way the carafe lid snaps on (dont get pinched!) and just try gazing into the water well to determine how many cups of water you just poured in. I am searching online reviews to replace it. My 7 years old Krups Krystal Arome still seems to work better. Oh yeah if you are brewing 4 cups or less be sure to tamp down the grinds or it will not brew properly at all kinda splatters the grinds around and coffee turns out weak (even using the small batch selector feature!!). : 2010-09-18 09:37:32

Good coffee but why is it spilling itself over?  
Coffee tastes great - good price and I think it does a good job. been serving me daily for 6 months.


but when making coffee it appears to run over the sides of the pot and runs down the sides of the pot and burns on the bottom heater plate. Ive tried jostling it around getting it into the right spot but no dice it still does it.

Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker  
Ive owned several drip coffeemakers over the years. The Cuisinart is the best by far. One of its best features is the adjustable temperature control for the warmer plate (the medium setting keeps the brew quite hot-and I like hot coffee not tepid). And about hot coffee this is the first coffeemaker that actually gives you a hot cup of coffee after its brewed. With the other ones Ive owned I had to microwave the coffee in the mug after I poured it.

From a styling standpoint its a handsome machine-a bit retro and yet modern at the same time. Mine is the stainless/black version. I like it.

Is it perfect? Well not quite. I wish the digital clock/program timer display was a bit larger and backlit. Also there is an annoying "GRAWNCH" sound from the hinged cover if opened (to discard the grounds) when the unit is hot. Another thing about the cover is that condensation from the brewing process tends to drip down the back of the unit when it is opened. None of these r : 2010-09-18 09:37:32

Good coffeemaker but continually shuts off  
It looks good and has many features that make it a a five star unit. We failed to identify the shutoff problem until it was out of the warranty period. Would buy again but closely monitor performance. Flushing with white wine is a marginal solution. Miss our Toshiba grind and brew coffee maker. : 2010-09-18 09:37:32

Almost perfect... just a couple inconveniences.  
First of all it looks great makes great coffee and functions very well. I like the features the quantity of coffee it makes the speed with which it brews the fact you can adjust the carafe warmer temperature etc. I will be keeping mine.

What I particularly like is that it can operate without the water filters (which is nice if you dont want to buy them) but the filters do seem to work. This isnt a machine that shuts off without them.

I only have two complaints about this machine:

1) You need to measure the amount of water you need prior to pouring it into the machine. There is no "window" to view water level and to gauge it using the machine you actually need to look down into the well to this permanent plastic gauge to see which unit had been covered with water. Obviously this is inconvenient and -- since the opening for pouring water is very small anyway -- this often causes minor spills and such. quality and workmanship very poor  
I bought the Cuisinart based on the reviews on Amazon and the price. You get what you pay for. It brews a nice cup of coffee but the top is loose. You can push it down after loading the coffee and it works. I saw the same item at Kohls for $30 more but at least theirs wasnt broken. : 2010-09-16 04:03:29

Excellent coffemaker  
Thanks to all the great input from customers here at Amazon.com! When I unwrapped the coffeemaker and looked it over it was exactly what I expected. Its true the water receptacle opening is small and hard to see how much water you are putting in. I never like using the carafe to fill with but it seems the only way to be accurate. Just means I have to rinse it thoroughly before adding the water. This is a small price to pay for really great coffee! Ive made 12 cups and 2 cups and it comes out great every time. The feature for making the smaller pots of coffee works very well. It is quiet and quick. I can recommend this coffeemaker to anyone. I was a loyal Braun user before now but couldnt justify spending nearly $300.00 for one of them! Happy coffee mornings to all! : 2010-09-16 04:03:29

works well until the cord starts to melt  
Ive had my Brew Central for a little over a year.
One morning I started my coffee and walked away as usual.
My wife said she smelled something burning.
I went into the kitchen it was an electrical smell.
Smoke was coming out of the electrical outlet.
I pulled the plug which was hot and the rubber was soft.
Some of the rubber was melted on the outlet.
The other appliance didnt have any trouble and the outlet itself was okay.

Cant fill cant pour  
All Cuisinart machines are impossible to fill without making a mess. Additionally the pouring spout on the carafe is poorly designed making it is difficult to pour coffee without dripping it.

You would think that Cuisinart would redesign both the lid to the water reservoir and the spout of the carafe.

I just abandoned two Cuisinart DCC-1200 machines for the new Waring Pro Coffee Maker. The Waring product seems much easier to operate and does not leave water or coffee on the counter. : 2010-09-16 04:03:29
